Corporate volunteering at 1st Formations

1st Formations puts corporate social responsibility into action through hands-on volunteering, not just donations. We work with charities including WONDER Foundation, The Childhood Trust, and Young Camden Foundation to create meaningful, in-person opportunities that make a genuine difference. Led by our Social Impact Manager, Adam Bragan, our volunteering programme is built around lasting relationships and practical support.

Giving back to the community: Our approach

We don't treat volunteering as a box-ticking exercise or a once-a-year away day. It's woven into how our teams work throughout the year, with every employee entitled to two paid volunteering days per year. It's led from the top down and the bottom up in equal measure.

We build long-term relationships, not one-off donations

Wherever possible, we return to the same charities year after year, so our support grows alongside the causes we care about.

We give our time and our skills

Whether that's a team of decorators with paintbrushes or helping a charity's own team with research and strategy, we look for ways we can add real value.

It's employee-led

Ideas for partnerships and projects often come directly from our team members, and we actively support colleagues who want to champion a cause close to their heart.

We measure what matters

From hours volunteered to causes supported, we track our impact so we can keep improving and stay accountable to the charities we work with.

Charities we've supported

Race Against Dementia

Race Against Dementia

Race Against Dementia is on a mission to find a cure for dementia, a neurodegenerative condition affecting 1 in 3 people. The charity applies the principles of Formula 1 to dementia research – precision, pace, and continuous improvement.

1st Formations provides support to Race Against Dementia by providing rent-free office space to the London team, getting involved in volunteering days, and taking part in ongoing fundraising events.

The Childhood Trust

The Childhood Trust

The Childhood Trust is tackling child poverty in London and has raised more than £50 million through its matched fundraising programmes.

We're proud to be a part of the charity's community outreach programme 'Transforming Spaces'. Only 2% of social housing is furnished, leaving many children without beds and other basic furniture. Our teams volunteer their time and refurbish children's bedrooms, painting walls and installing furniture to give them a safe and inspiring space to sleep, learn, play, and grow.

Our recent volunteering days

Our team has partnered with a range of causes, offering everything from practical skills to a few hours of hard graft.

1st Formations volunteering with The Childhood Trust.

The Childhood Trust

We attended a property in London and renovated a young girl's bedroom just weeks before her second birthday. After a day of sanding, filling, building furniture, laying rugs, and putting up curtains, the previously empty and uninspiring room was transformed into a cosy and colourful space.

1st Formations volunteering with WONDER Foundation.

WONDER Foundation

Our team volunteered at WONDER Foundation's Summer Employability Bootcamp at The Baytree Centre in Brixton. We spent the day sharing our career journeys and providing employability support through one-to-one CV reviews and mock interviews.

1st Formations volunteering with Race Against Dementia.

Race Against Dementia

Two members of our team braved the bustling London Bridge station to do a bucket collection for Race Against Dementia and raise funds for life-changing research.

1st Formations volunteering with Basch Helps CIC.

Basch Helps CIC

We went on a shopping trip for Basch Helps CIC to buy essential supplies for single parents and families facing financial hardship, particularly during pregnancy and early parenthood, in the London area.

1st Formations volunteering with Streets of Growth.

Streets of Growth

We did Santa's work with Streets of Growth, buying and wrapping air fryers, kettles, and toastie makers, ready for raffle. This was to raise funding for young people who face harm in and outside of home, including violence, crime, and exploitation.

1st Formations volunteering with WONDER Foundation.

WONDER Foundation

Members of our team joined our charity partner, WONDER Foundation, for a hands-on Volunteering Day at The Baytree Centre in Brixton. The day was all about redecorating and refreshing the centre to make it an even more welcoming space for the women and girls it supports.

1st Formations volunteering with Young Camden Foundation & Dogs on the Street.

Young Camden Foundation & Dogs on the Street

Our team purchased gifts for children aged 5 to 16 for the Young Camden Foundation and filled stockings with essentials and treats for Dogs on the Street.

Taking part in volunteering days has been really rewarding. I value that volunteering and giving back are genuinely embedded in our culture. I've also had the opportunity to attend charity events, most recently Young Camden Foundation's annual summer party, which was a meaningful way to get involved and meet the people behind the causes we support. It's inspiring to work somewhere that makes it easy to give back and encourages us to give our time to causes that matter.
